West Bengal Board Exam 2021 Cancelled: As per the official announcement, the WB Madhyamik Exam 2021 for Class 10 students and West Bengal HS Exam 2021 for Class 12 students have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision to cancel the WB Madhyamik and HS Exams 2021 was formally announced by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today i.e. on 7th June 2021. She also announced that with the cancellation of board exams, the state government appointed expert committee will decide on the evaluation criteria to be followed for marking students for Class 10 and 12th. She also added that Evaluation Criteria will be announced in 7 days.
Decision Based on Feedback of Stakeholders, Public Opinion
Today afternoon, West Bengal CM Mamata Barnerjee held a press conference in which she announced the state government’s decision to cancel the Madhyamik and Uccha Madhyamik Board Exams of the state. In the press meet, Ms Barnerjee said that the decision to cancel the WB 10th and 12th Exam 2021 was taken after taken after consultation with stakeholders. The state government on Sunday had also sought public opinions and suggestions on the issue via email. As part of this exercise, the state government received 34 thousand email of which 74% suggested cancellation of Madhyamik Exam while 83% sought cancellation of HS Exams.
Earlier, the West Bengal Class 10 and 12 exams were postponed in mid-May due to the surge in Covid cases. Later on, 2nd June, the state government has put off a final decision on Madhyamik and HS board exams dates. As per reports, around 12 lakh class 10 students and 8.5 lakh class 12 students has registered for the WB Board Madhyamik and HS examination this year.
WB Board Exams in July and August
On 27th May, the West Bengal Government also announced that the WB Madhyamik and HS examinations will be held in July and August in their respective schools. The board while announcing this said that both the exams would be conducted in home centres and the exams will be of a shorter duration of 90 minutes each for only compulsory subjects.
West Bengal 10th and 12th Board Exams 2021
Earlier, the West Bengal State Government decided to postpone the upcoming WB Madhyamik exam for class 10 and the West Bengal HS exam for class 12/Uccha Madhyamik students. Earlier, the state government had announced that WBBSE 10th exam and WBCHSE 12th exam 2021 were scheduled to be held from June 2021 onwards.

However, due to the pandemic situation, the state government has decided to postpone the exams until further notice. As per the earlier schedule, the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBSSE) Madhyamik exams were scheduled to commence from 1st June and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) HS exams were slated to start from 15th June.
