Giving good news to thousands of students who work as apprentices, the HRD ministry has decided to increase their stipend by 40%. The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has announced this raise in the stipend of apprentices to make an effort to improve employability of these students who get the stipend while continue learning. The last revision in the amount of stipend was done in 2011.
The number of students who undergo apprenticeship every year is around one lakh where the students get placed in 10,000 companies in India. After completing their degree and diploma courses in technical education students from all over the country get placed in the companies for a training of one year. The employers along with the ministry of HRD are responsible for providing the huge amount spent in the apprenticeship programme every year. The amount of money spent in terms of apprenticeship has raked up to Rs. 383 crore in the last year. This year the amount is expected to be around Rs. 546 crore which would eventually help the students, acquiring the apprentice and benefit them monetarily.
