Finally the last date for the registration of CAT 2017 is over. The registrations were open till yesterday evening i.e. 25th September 2017 till 5:00p.m. For now, as per the data made available by the CAT Exam convener, the registration numbers for the CAT 2017 exam has closed at 2.31 lakh applicants. The aspirants will appear in the exam surfacing cut-throat to grab a seat in one of the 20 IIMs across the country. All the 20 IIMs offer around 4000 seats to the IIM aspirants, rendering this exam as one of the most sought after MBA exams in the country at present.
Is CAT Exam still the ‘call of the duty’?
Going by the statistics, last year the CAT registrations closed on September 27. In 2016,the number of applicants rose to 2,32,434. As per the current data, we can see that approximately 2.31 lakh candidates have registered for one of the toughest MBA entrance exam of India. With such soaring number, CAT exam is one of the biggest MBA entrance tests of India that grants admission to the premier MBA institutes to the aspiring youth.
Prof Neeraj Dwivedi of IIM(L), the convener of the examination commented that “The exact number of applicants will be known on Tuesday. There is not significant change in the number of applicants as compared to what it was last year.”
Benefit of Extending CAT Registration deadline
CAT 2017 registration was supposed to get close on September 20. But due to a few glitches in registration during the last day, the registrations were extended till September 25 till 5:00p.m. According to Prof Dwivedi, during the extended 5 days, about 20000 candidates applied. Prof. Dwivedi commented that “We have a total of approximately 2.31 lakh registrations (Completed and fee paid).”
What next?
The CAT applicants will be permitted to download their admit card from October 18 onwards till the test date. In addition, Prof. Dwivedi also mentioned that a tutorial will be available on the CAT website from October 18 to help the CAT exam takers understand the format of the test.
