CAT 2018 Cut-Offs: As per the official notification, the CAT 2018 Result has been declared on 05th January 2018 on the official website i.e. iimcat.ac.in. And after the result, the most important aspect which will seal the fate of nearly 2.42 lakhs aspirants will be CAT Cutoffs 2018. It is the deciding factor as to which aspirant will get a call from which IIM for admission. Candidate will be called for further screening process comprising of GD/PI/WAT rounds by top IIMs and other B-schools in India.

As of now, a few IIMs and even a few non-IIM B-schools have released the CAT 2018 cutoffs for the upcoming MBA admission season. What are CAT Cutoffs ?
Before, we go onto find out the CAT 2018 Cutoffs announced by different IIMs and top MBA Colleges in India, it is also important to understand what are CAT Cutoffs and what role do they play in the screening or selection process at the IIMs. Simply put, CAT Cutoff is the minimum percentile that a test-taker must achieve in order to qualify / be selected for the next selection round.
Generally, top B-schools including all the IIMs announce the CAT 2018 Cutoffs before the CAT result is declared. For 2018, the CAT 2018 entrance exam is scheduled for 25th November and the Result is expected in the second week of January. As of now, around 10 IIMs out of the 20 have announced the CAT 2018 Cutoffs for MBA admissions. These include premier B-schools like IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Lucknow, IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta.

How are CAT Cutoffs Decided?
CAT Cutoffs depend on a number of different factors and different B-schools and IIMs have their own formula to arrive at the final Cutoff number for MBA admissions. Generally, B-schools take into considering the following factors while determining the CAT Exam Cutoffs:
- Total Number of Test Takers
- Total Number of Applicants
- Difficulty Level of the Exam
- Total Number of MBA seats Available
- Repute / Ranking of the B-school
Also, many B-schools including the IIMs announce, not only the overall percentile cutoff for CAT Exam but also declare sectional Cutoffs for each of the three sections. Simply put, candidates have to qualify / score the minimum aggregate CAT percentile but also have to also qualify / score the minimum percentile in each of the sections to be eligible for further screening rounds.
CAT 2018 Expected Cut-offs
As per the trends of the previous year, the top tier B-schools including the top 8 IIMs have their CAT Cutoffs in the range of 99 to 95 percentile. For the second tier of B-schools, the cut off falls in the range of 70-80 percentile and for third tier it is in the range of 50-60 percentile. If we go by the expert predictions, then a score of 150 to 160 will be suffice to grab a seat in top IIMs.
