The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2012 kick started on 11 October 2012. Day one flagged off in a usually calm manner sans a few late starts and a relatively low turnout . Apparently, the questions in the examination were moderate in terms of difficulty.
Approximately, five thousand aspirants sat for the test across India. Most centres in Delhi-NCR didn't see a good turnout with the Noida centre registering just ten candidates in the first session and nine in the second against a total capacity of one forty, however a change can be seen as the test would be conducted over twenty one days.
In terms of the question paper, candidates found the section on quantitative ability tough, because the questions were found to be time consuming. The focus on algebra in the section has been higher as well. In the data interpretation portion in the first section, one of the three sets was relatively tough, which was same with the logical reasoning in the second.
In the second section, the reading comprehension part had three passages of ten questions and most were direct questions in one of the set. Verbal ability had a mix of four to five types of questions.
Around twenty one thousand out of the total 2.14 lakh candidates are from Delhi-NCR and will take the test in ten centres.
