The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the class 12 Chemistry exam (code 043) today, i.e., on 13 March, 2018. The exam has started at 10:30AM and got over at 1:30PM with duration of 3 hours. The paper carried a total of 70 marks. Students were given extra 15 minutes to go through the question paper before writing the answers.

After the CBSE Class 12 Chemistry exam was over, we talked to many students and teachers to discuss about the paper and got their feedback as stated below:

Feedback from students about the question Paper:

Difficulty level of the question paper: Medium

More difficult than the last year’s paper

All the questions in the paper were asked from the syllabus

No questions were repeated from previous years’ papers

Questions from the Inorganic part were more difficult

Average marks expected by students: 55 Marks

Easy as compared to Physics paper

Physical Chemistry portion: Numericals were having more calculation so time consuming

CBSE Class 12 Chemistry Question Paper: 2018

Question Paper Format:

The question paper pattern was according to the CBSE Class 12 Chemistry Sample Paper 2018.

  • The question paper consisted of total 26 questions.
  • Questions number 1 to 5 being very short answer questions with each carrying 1 mark.
  • Questions number 6 to 10 being short answer questions with each carrying 2 marks.
  • Questions number 11 to 22 again being short answer questions with each carrying 3 marks.
  • Question number 23 being a value based question carrying 4 marks.
  • Questions number 24 to 26 being long answer questions with each carrying 5 marks.

There was no overall choice in the paper. However, an internal choice was provided in one question of 2 marks weightage, one question of 3 marks weightage and all the three questions of 5 marks weightage.

General review:

The CBSE Class 12 Chemistry Paper 2018 was a bit tricky and time consuming. Many questions in the examination require High Order Thinking Skills. Numericle problems were also time consuming requiring combination of formulae to be solved.
