This year the Class 12 CBSE Mathematics Paper conducted on 18th March 2015, was reported to be the toughest in a decade, considering which the board held a meeting on Thursday, with a few school principals to discuss the matter. The board is also considering whether to make the marking lenient for the paper.
Along with all the other measures under consideration, the option of an “improvement paper” for all students might be given.
The exam conducted all over the India on Wednesday left the students disappointed after they found the paper very difficult with a changed pattern. The rumours were also there that the question paper has been mistaken for the IIT Joint Entrance Examination Paper.
“ The questions were not out of the syllabus, but more tricky that needed the students to have in-depth knowledge and HOTS. The paper was much different from the usual pattern”, said a mathematics teacher at a prominent school in the city.
Another teacher on justifying the board’s idea of introducing such pattern said that the high scores obtained by students in board exams automatically result into a high cut-off to get admissions into the top colleges for undergraduate programmes, which could be a reason behind setting such question paper.
