The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools will now employ more tests for students of classes nine and eleven. This step came after some complaints that stated students not having any problem solving or communication skills.
The CBSE employed tests will be imperative for every student in the class, meaning students will have no option of opting out from the tests. CBSE will also hold a compulsory problem solving assessment (CBSE-PSA) . The assessment will test students in quantitative and qualitative reasoning and language conventions.
The assessment will not be based on a particular syllabus, the questions would be framed in broad guidelines. Questions in the quantitative reasoning section will test students in areas related to mathematics, science and technology, while in qualitative reasoning students will be tested in humanities, arts and social sciences.
Also, the sixty minute test for ninety marks will be conducted between January and February 2013. The marks scored will be counted towards the fourth formative assessment. The same assessment marks will also be used for the FA-4 in Class ten.
