Delhi University is amidst a lot of combustion and one of such is the drafting of the English course and syllabi. The Delhi University is working round the clock to finish the designing of the courses for the four year undergraduate programs.

The syllabus drafting committee of the Delhi University English department met at an undisclosed venue on 11 April 2013, the meeting was held along with a select group of teachers to prepare the course and the syllabi.

The hasty business caused a great uproar amongst teachers as it was for the very first time that the University required the syllabi in such a hurry without any clarity of the structure.

All the Delhi University colleges offer English and forty six of these offer the honours course. But DU chose to invite just twenty five teachers from thirteen colleges, including Khalsa (evening), Dyal Singh (evening), Satyawati (evening), Swami Shraddhanand, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Maharaja Agrasen, Shivaji, Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, Zakir Husain (evening), Hindu, IP, Rajdhani and Bharti.

The missing colleges were St Stephen’s, Miranda House, Sri Venkateswara, Lady Shri Ram Ramjas, Kirori Mal, Gargi, Kamla Nehru, Daulat Ram, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Deshbandhu and Hansraj.
