Q. Do you know male seahorses give birth to their young ones?
Ans. Yes, it’s a surprising fact that the male seahorses undergo pregnancy and give birth to their young ones. Actually male seahorses are equipped with a pouch on their stomach. During their mating period, the female deposits her eggs in that pouch. Male seahorse fertilises the eggs internally. He carries the eggs in his pouch for about 45 days and eventually releases the fully developed, young seahorses into water.
