Should a candidate drop a year to crack JEE Main or JEE Advanced again? There are some of the situation or condition under which an aspirant should drop a year.

Dropping a year for IIT JEE: Pros & Cons
There is a very common question which every person ask himself that "Can I Do Better". This question arises only when a person is not satisfied with his performance, irrespective of the fact that either he got a success or a failure. The same question arises with the JEE Aspirants. Many engineering aspirants ask us every year whether it be a good idea for them to drop a year for focusing specifically on JEE preparation. The answer to this question may vary from individual to individual, depending on his/her particular condition.

How to decide about dropping a year?
Following are some of the situation or condition under which an aspirant should drop a year. The following case study will help every student in understanding and determining that what would be the right choice for him/her.

CASE 1: Low rank in JEE Advanced

Cracking "THE JEE" is a dream of every engineering aspirant. If one is able to crack the one of the most prestigious exam of India, then one should not take the risk of letting go of the opportunity as it is worthless. It might come to a student's mind that by dropping a year he/she will be able to study harder for the next one year and get a better branch or a better rank in JEE Advanced.
RISKS:
The students may get bored, depressed or frustrated over the next year. This whole year will be very stress full for you as you have to cope up with the pressure (created by yourself) of getting a better rank then the previous one. It also might be possible that on the same day of your exam you met with any such calamity which may ruin all your dreams.
What to do:
You have two choices: 1. Take the admission in the IIT with the branch not of your choice (Aspirants generally choose Computer Science Engineering and Electronics & Communication, suppose you got Mechanical, Chemical, Metallurgy or Mining). Perform exceptionally well and choose whatever branch you want in the second year.
Choice 2: Take the admission in any IIT with the branch of your choice (Computer Science Engineering and Electronics & Communication). Again perform exceptionally well that none could be able to stand next to you.
Conclusion: Dropping is not a good idea at all; at last what matters is your performance.

CASE 2: Got good rank in JEE Main but failed to crack JEE Advanced
Sometimes the students may get depressed that I can't achieve my goal but this depression may disgrace your achievement and ruin your future. After getting a good rank in JEE MAIN, you stand a good chance of getting admission in some of the top NITs, IITS, Centrally/State funded Universities and other good engineering colleges.
RISKS:
It might be possible that you even can't be able to qualify for the JEE MAIN and then you will regret more that I should go with the rank I got last year and all the risks of case 1 as well. Securing a seat in other engineering colleges is safer. It saves you a year and lays out a certain career path for you instead of an uncertain future. Some surveys indicate that students of many NITs have performed better than several IITians
Choices: You have more choices then the candidates qualified in JEE Advanced. 30 NITs, IITs, Private institutes like BITS and the list goes on.......
Conclusion: Dropping is not a good idea at all; at last what matters is your performance.

Case 3: Failed to crack JEE Main
Here you need to analyze the reasons of your failure. After the analysis you have to accept your mistakes as this acceptance will help you a lot in the future and create a better path for you, and you must think about joining a college (Please cross check each and every parameter which is must for a college like Placement, Faculty, Infrastructure and Affiliations).
