The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Maharashtra, conducts the Maharashtra Health Technology Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET), every single year which has been the common entrance test for the admissions to the engineering, pharmacy and health sciences courses across the state.
MHTCET will now be replaced with MT-CET (Maharashtra Technology Common Entrance Test) starting from the academic year 2013-14. This decision came after the state government took a decision to participating in National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi for admissions to medical and dental courses from the academic year 2013-14.
The MT-CET test will now only cover engineering and pharmacy courses in the state. Also, the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra issued a notification which stated that now the combined entrance exam for admissions to engineering ad pharmacy degree courses in the state will be held on May 16 2013.
In the state of Maharashtra, the NEET will also be on the basis for admission to other health science courses such as ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani, Physiotheraphy, occupational therapy, nursing etc.
