The International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore is offering a five-year M Tech integrated course after Class 12 from the academic year 2012. Popularly known as IIIT Bangalore, it was conferred Deemed University status under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act 1956 in February 2005. The last date to apply for the course is latest by 22 June 2012.
The minimum qualification required for admission to the Integrated M Tech programme is a first-class in 10 + 2 (or equivalent) with Mathematics as one of the subjects. Students expecting to complete the minimum requirement by August 2012 may also apply. The candidates will be selected on the basis of performance at the All-India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) 2012.
The five-year residential programme will offer a dual degree, a B Tech and an M Tech in IT with core subject as IT. The fifth year will focus entirely on research.
Students interested in the Integrated M Tech course should apply online before the last date. IIIT-Bangalore is promoted by the Government of Karnataka and the bigshots from the IT industry. The deemed university is Governed by NR Narayana Murthy, Chief Mentor of Infosys, as the Chairperson.
