    Located in the lush green state of India, IIM Shillong is the seventh IIM, that was eatablished in the year 2007 with a vision of expand and enable quality management education and research in Northeast India. IIM-S was ranked 26 among management schools in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2018. The institute accepts CAT entrance exam score for shortlisting the candidates for its popular PGPM course.

    Programmes Offered @ IIM Shillong

    IIM shilling offers two types of programmes in the domain of management. Both the courses are aimed to enhance and groom the managerial skills of the candidates, however they the target audience for both the programmes differ. Read on to find out more about these programmes in detail:

    PGPM: 2-year residential program

    The Post Graduate Program in Management at IIM shilling is a two year residential program which aims to develop thought leaders for an economically and ecologically sustainable society. The institute’s objective is to ensure that the graduates from IIM meet the demand of the corporate as per the recent trends that are prevalent in the industry. IIM Shillong aims to achieve this objective through comprehensive learning process both within and outside the classroom.

    PGPEx- MBIC: 14 months programme for Executives

    The Post Graduate Program for Executives at IIM shilling is specifically designed keeping in view the relations of India with neighbouring nations. Here the objective of PGPEx- MBIC (i.e. Managing Business in India and China) is to ascertain that future managers are equipped with adequate knowledge and business skills for managing businesses in India and China. Candidates will learn about Chinese language, Chinese Culture and Chinese tradition. This course is a 14 months full time residential course for Executives with prior industry experience and entrepreneurs. The institute makes arrangement for the candidates to visit China wherein aspirants get a chance to visit China for a period of 4 months. In these 4 months candidates undergoes a module at The Ocean University of China and also participate in 2 months of Industrial exposure to understand the culture and management principles of the country.

    IIM Shillong Eligibility Criteria Programme-wise

    To get admission in IIM shillong’s PGDM programme, a candidate must fulfil the below mentioned criteria:

    • The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA) (It may also referred to as Persons with Disability (PWD) category)], awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
    • He/she must have apperared in the CAT 2018 MBA entrance exam.
    • If the candidate is in the final year of bachelor’s degree, he/she can also apply for the CAT exam and IIM Shillong.

    IIM Shillong PGP (2018-20):  Admission Process

    At IIM Shillong, candidates five phases are generally followed before the candidate receives final admission offer. Take a look at all the steps which a candidate is required to follow before getting admission in IIM Shillong:

    Phase 1: Getting registered for CAT 2018 exam

    Candidates need to register for the CAT 2018 exam before the last date ends. Those who successfully get registered for the CAT exam are eligible to participate in the admission process of IIM Shillong.

    Phase 2: Qualifying the CAT 2018 admission cut-off

    Every year each IIM release their admission cut-off scores for the candidates to let them know the qualifying CAT exam percentile which is required to get a call for the GD/PI/WAT round. Those candidates who score marks as per the CAT 2018 admission cut-off (sectional and overall CAT 2018 scores) then get a call from the institute to participate in further shortlisting rounds.

    Phase 3: GD/PI/WAT round

    Candidates selected for the GD/PI/WAT round are required to perform at their best and thereafter are evaluated on various parameters. Factors such as academic background, gender diversity, work experience and performance in CAT exam are taken into consideration for preparing the final shortlist.

    Phase 4: Preparation of final merit list of selected candidates

    Once the final shortlist is prepared, aspirants are then extended final admission offer.

    Phase 5: Final admission offer to the candidates

    It is candidate’s choice to accept or reject the admission offer. Prior intimation needs to be sent in case the candidate is not willing to accept the admission offer.

    It should be noted that the admission of shortlisting and selection process of IIM shilling is independent of all other IIMs. No other IIM can intervene or plays a role in getting the candidate shortlisted in IIM Shillong.

    IIM Shillong PGP (2018-20): Admission Cut-offs

    It is important for the candidates to score a minimum CAT cut-off score to get shortlisted for the GD/PI/WAT round. Candidates can take a look at both the overall cut-off and sectional cut-off scores and prepare for the exam accordingly.

    IIM Shillong Final Admission Selection Criteria

    For admission to the PGDM in IIM Shillong, applicants are required to qualify for the CAT cut-off scores released by the institute. Overseas candidates may however, apply with GMAT scores.

    IIM Shillong: PGDM (2018-20) Fees

    The course fee for getting admission in IIM Shillong is INR 12.68 Lakhs for the entire course. However, the fee mentioned here is subject to change for the upcoming PGPM (2019-21) batch.
