After the announcement of CAT 2018 results on the official website (, IIM Calcutta has announced the shortlist for the succesfu candidates who will sooner get a call for the further rounds of screening. Programmes Offered

IIM offers general PGDM programme to the candidates willing to enrol in two year full time programme. It also offers PGDM in Business analytics specialisation. Apart from this, the institute offers opportunity for managerial education to working professionals as well. There are PGDM courses for working executives too. Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM)

PGDM programme at IIM-C is designed to train students to become exceptional managers and focuses on honing broad strategic vision of each candidate. This full-time two year residential program enables the aspirants to specialise in domains such as accounting, finance, marketing, and operations.

Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA)

PGDBA programme is jointly offered by IIM Calcutta, IIT Kharagpur, and ISI Kolkata. The programme is especially designed for those aspirants who have an analytical mindset, are interested in tackling challenging business problems with inclination towards mathematics.

Post Graduate Programme for Executives (PGPEX)

Aimed at mid-career professionals, PGPEX programme enables in enhancing the existing KSA for a better managerial growth to climb the career ladder at senior and top management roles in the industry. This programme was management commenced in 2006 and is accredited by AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS.

Post Graduate Diploma for Executives for Visionary Leadership in Manufacturing (PGPEX-VLM)

With an aim to develop future visionary leaders, PGPEX-VLM focuses on manufacturing sector of India to enhance the global competitiveness of our manufacturing sector. Aspirants who enrol for this programme can expect 7 weeks of internship in industry along with 2–3 weeks of industry visit in Japan for studying Best Manufacturing Practices under the aegis of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Programme-wise Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria holds a crucial place in the entire admission process for the candidates. IIM Calcutta has defined distinct eligibility criteria for each programme being offered to the aspirants. Here are all the requirements in detail which candidates must take care of before applying for the course:

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM)

A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PWD) categories.

Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply.

Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA)

Candidates must possess academic education in 10+2+4 format with minimum of 60% marks, or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale, or equivalent, in the BS/B Tech/BE or equivalent Level OR 10+2+5 format with minimum of 60% marks, or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale, or equivalent, in the Integrated Masters/BA (ARCH)/MBBS or equivalent Level OR

Post Graduate Programme for Executives

Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree (minimum 10+2+3 years of formal education) or equivalent in any discipline.

Post Graduate Diploma for Executives for Visionary Leadership in Manufacturing (PGPEX-VLM)

PGPEX-VLM aspirants should possess first-class Graduate Engineers with First Division/ First Class Marks from SLC/ Madhyamik. Self sponsored candidates, not in service should carry minimum 4½ (four and half) to maximum 10 (ten) years of work experience in manufacturing, engineering and related sector. Sponsored candidates need to have minimum 4½ (four and half) years work experience only.

Admission Process

IIM-Calcutta follows a four step admission process for granting admission to the two-year PGP Programme. Here is the step-wise explanation of each process which candidates are expected to follow:

Step 1

Candidate needs to appear in the CAT 2018 exam. Post exam, only those candidates will get a call for the GD/PI/WAT who meets the minimum required sectional and overall percentile criteria as mentioned in the admission cut-off criteria released by IIM-C before the CAT 2018 exam.

Step 2

Candidates who meet the minimum required sectional and overall percentile criteria are short-listed for Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) from among the candidates who possess valid CAT-2018 score and also fulfil the eligibility criteria mentioned by IIM-Calcutta for the PGP course.

Step 3

Candidate clearing WAT & PI round get a call from IIM Calcutta for final selection. It should be noted that in the final selection stage diverse set of attributes such as performance in CAT, WAT & PI, academics, co-curricular and extra-curricular achievements, work experience, are taken into account.

Step 4

Selected candidate are required to make the fee payment (i.e. 1st instalment) as per the admission policy of IIM-Calcutta.

Admission Shortlisting Criteria

Candidates will be short listed on the basis of their performance in CAT 2018 exam. The CAT 2018 score/percentile is the primary criteria for getting shortlisted to IIM-C. Beyond this factor, past academic performance, and gender diversity are also taken into consideration. Candidates scoring above minimum percentile in each section of CAT 2018 exam will be considered further rounds i.e. GD and PI round. Here are all the components along with the assigned weights which holds importance in shortlisting process for PI and WAT stage in IIM-C.

Final Admission Selection Criteria

Admission Cut-off

Programme Fees

Each programme offered at IIM-Calcutta has a different fee structure. Candidates can refer to the programme fees mentioned for each course as under:


For its flagship two-year PGP programme the course fee for academic session 2018-2020 was Rs 21 lakh.


The programme fee for the 2-year programme for the 2018-20 batch is Rs 20 lakh plus a refundable caution deposit of Rs. 10,000/-. Candidates were required to make fee payment in four equal installments at the time of registration for each semester.


PGPEX programme fee for the academic year 2019- 20 has been decided at Rs. 22,00,000/- (non-refundable) or equivalent US$ for one year, plus tax as applicable, payable in four instalments


The present program fees for PGPEX-VLM is at Rs. 11,25,000/- along with applicable taxes.
