    Q1: I am a class XII science student, what course can I apply for at IISERs?
    Ans: Five year BS-MS dual degree programme.
    Q2: How do I get admission to the BS-MS dual degree program in IISERs?
    Ans: Students will be admitted to the Five Year BS-MS Dual Degree programme beginning August 2015 through the following channels
    Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Basic Science Stream: Students qualifying in SA (2013-14)/SX (2014-15)/SB (2014-15)
    Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2015: Students obtaining a minimum of 60% marks in class XII and securing a place in the Rank List of Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2015 for the admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs)
    State and Central Boards: Students passed class XII in 2014 or appearing in 2015 in science stream with either
    Marks above or equal to the cut-off percentage declared by DST (http://www.inspire-dst.gov.in) as eligibility for INSPIRE fellowship. For OBC (Non-Creamy layer)/PD category candidates, there is a 5% relaxation in the DST cut-off. The cut-off for SC/ST candidates is 55% in class XII for all boards

    Students applying through State and Central Boards channel will be required to appear and qualify the IISER Aptitude Test.
    (*) Aggregate marks = (Total marks obtained in all subjects x 100) / Maximum marks.
    Q3: Do I need to apply separately for different IISERs?
    Ans: No. All five IISERs admit students through a common application process. One application form is valid for all IISERs.
    Q4: What is the intake of students in IISERs for BS-MS dual degree programme in 2015?
    Ans: Total of 950 students in all IISERs put together.
    Q5: What is the intake through different channels?
    Ans: Up to 25% seats (General/SC/ST/OBC Non-creamy) from KVPY channel.
    Up to 25% seats (General/SC/ST/OBC Non-creamy) from JEE (Advanced) channel.
    Remaining seats through State and Central Boards channel based on an Aptitude Test conducted by IISERs.
    Q6: Can I apply through more than one channel?
    Ans: Yes.
    Q7: Do I need to apply separately for each channel?
    Ans: You may apply to IISERs through multiple channels provided you meet the eligibility criteria for each of the channels you want to apply through. It requires separate application and payment of application fee for each channel.
    Q8: Does reservation of seats apply for admission?
    Ans: Yes, as per Government of India rules.
    Q9: How do I apply?
    Ans: Application has to be done online only at our admission portal . The details of the application procedure will be announced on this website in due course.
    Q10: When should I apply?
    Ans: Please refer to Q19 for details.
    Q11: Is there an application fee?
    There is a non-refundable application fee of Rs. 1500/- (Rs. 750/- for candidates applying under SC/ST category)
    Q12: Is there any financial support for students admitted at IISERs?
    Ans: Yes. All BS-MS students are eligible for a monthly scholarship of Rs. 5000/- awarded by KVPY/INSPIRE scheme.
    Q13: What is the fee structure for BS-MS programme at IISERs?
    Ans: The information regarding the fee structure of individual IISERs is available at the websites of respective IISERs.
    Q14: Can I be a day-scholar at IISERs?
    Ans: No. IISERs are fully residential campuses and students are required to stay in campus hostels.
    Q15: Are all candidates satisfying the eligibility criteria admitted to IISERs?
    Ans: No. Admission to IISERs is based on the total number of available seats as per:
    Ranking in KVPY.
    Ranking in JEE (Advanced) 2015.
    Merit in the Aptitude test conducted by IISERs.
    Q16: How do I make my choice of IISER?
    Ans: You will be asked to give your preferences in the online application form. The details of the application procedure will be announced on this website in due course.
    Q17: Do I get the IISER of my choice?
    Ans: The allotment is purely on the basis of the applicant's preferences and the ranks as mentioned in Q15.
    Q18: Can I transfer my admission from one IISER to another at any time?
    Ans: No. Allotment to an IISER is final. No application/request for transfer to another IISER will be entertained.

    Q20: What is the curriculum structure for BS-MS dual degree programme?
    Ans: For the first four semesters, all students will take common courses in all disciplines (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics & Humanities). From the fifth semester onwards, the student may opt for courses in one or more areas. The final year will be devoted to a research project.
    Q21: What is the syllabus for the IISER Aptitude Test for the candidates applying through State and Central Boards channel?

    Q22: What is the format of the Aptitude Test?
    Ans: The format of the Aptitude Test is as follows
    Multiple-choice questions in four subjects – Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics
    15 questions in each subject (total: 60)
    Duration: 180 minutes
    Score: +3 (correct response), 0 (no response), -1 (wrong response)

    Q24: Where is the IISER Aptitude Test conducted?
    Ans: State and Central Boards channel candidates can appear for Aptitude Test at any one of the places given on the Test Centres Page. The choice of IISER where a candidate wants to appear for Aptitude Test needs to be indicated at the time of filling online application form.
