Mumbai: One of the top engineering colleges in India, IIT Bombay is conducting its annual placements drive that commenced on 1Dec, 2016. Till date, tech majors Intel and Samsung emerged as the top recruiters the IIT Bombay Placement 2016.
Among the top five recruiters, Intel Technologies hired 29 young engineers from IIT-B followed by Samsung R&D (28), Citi Corp (20), Goldman Sachs (15) and Qualcomm (13).
The highest base package for domestic roles was offered by Blackstone worth Rs 35 lakhs. Schlumberger was placed at the second spot with the annual package of Rs 28 lakhs and World Quant ranked third with Rs 25.20 lakhs package. Another tech giant Xerox Research also made an offer Rs 22 lakhs per annum at the IIT-B Placements 2016 .
The top placement package amongst the US firms was offered by Uber at USD 1.10 lakhs per annum, whereas Microsoft followed the suite with USD 1.06 lakhs per annum package. Oracle was placed third in terms of international offers being made at IIT-B Placements 2016 with an annual package of USD 1 lakh.
Among Japanese firms, the top offer was made by Works app at 60 lakhs JPY/annum; followed by Yahoo at 37.52 lakhs JPY per annum, Rakuten at 37.20 lakhs JPY per annum and Toyo Engineering at 35.16 lakhs JPY per annum.
Job offers have been pouring in from various companies in the last couple of weeks at IIT-B. During the annual IIT Bombay campus placements, a number of companies hired across all sectors including research & development, consulting, finance and software roles.
The first phase of IIT-B placement, which commenced on December 1, will go on till December 17 during which many more reputed educational institutions / universities from across India are expected to visit IIT Bombay campus for the interviews this week.
