IIT Madras to Organize a Science Workshop for School in Tamil Nadu

Indian Institute of Technology - Madras (IIT-M) is going to organize a science awareness workshop meant for Higher Secondary School students from Tamil Nadu. The theme of the workshop will be 'Science and Engineering - A Journey'. The workshop will be conducted on 24 February and 25 February 2014.

Indian Institute of Technology - Madras (IIT-M) is going to organize a science awareness workshop meant for Higher Secondary School students from Tamil Nadu. The theme of the workshop will be 'Science and Engineering - A Journey'. The workshop will be conducted on 24 February and 25 February 2014.

Only 250 fortunate Higher Secondary School students belonging to Tamil Nadu government schools, government-aided schools, Anglo Indian schools, Matriculation, CBSE affiliated schools, International schools and those run by the Chennai Corporation will get to take part in the workshop on a first-come first served basis.

The Federation of Science Clubs of Tamil Nadu (FSCT), the Madras Christian College Higher Secondary School as well as IIT Madras are associating to organize The 'Science and Engineering - A Journey' workshop.

The workshop will also include the discussion of the recent developments and applications of Science and Engineering in order to make students aware about the existing career opportunities in field of science and to clarify their queries.

The IIT Madras Director, Bhaskar Ramamurthi, will personally communicate to the bunch of students and will speak about the obstacles and career prospects in different science and engineering based disciplines covering Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering Design, Biotechnology, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering.  

The venue of the workshop is decided to be IIT Madras campus. During the workshop the students will also get opportunity to visit the laboratories and the up to date research facilities that are available on campus.
