Indian Coast Guard Notified Recruitment for the Sports Quota Entry as Sailors 2014

    Applications are invited from unmarried male candidates, Indian Nationals possessing educational qualifications and other details for the enrolment as Sailor under Sports Quota Entry in the Indian Coast Guard, an Armed Force of the Union. The candidates eligible for the post may apply on or before 30 April 2014.

    Details of Course

    Name of the Post: “Sailor (Sports Quota Entry)”

    Sports Disciplines: Outstanding sportsmen who have participated at International/Junior or Senior National Championship/ Senior State Championship/ All India Inter University Championship in Athletics, Aquatics, Basketball, Boxing, Cricket, Golf, Football, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Yachting, Kayaking/Canoeing, Fencing (Sabre), Squash, Tennis and Best Physique.

    Educational Qualifications/ Eligibility Criteria  

    • Direct Entry Petty Officer  :

    10+2 qualified in any stream or equivalent examination.

    Sports Profiency:

    (i) Team Games : Should have participated at International/National/State lavel at junior /senior level or represented a University in the Inter Univerisity tournament.

    (ii) Individual Events. Should have attained a minimum of 6th positions in Nationals (seniors) or 3rd position in National (juniors) or 3rd position in the Inter Univerisity meets.

    •  Senior Secondary Recruitment (SSR)  :

    10+2 qualified in any stream or equivalent examination.

    Sports Profiency :

    Should have participated at International/ National/ State level or represented  a University in the Inter Univerisity tournament.

    • Matric Recruits (MR)  :

    10th Pass from recoganised School/ Institute or equivalent qualified.

    Sports Profiency :

    Should have participated at International/ National/ State level tournament.

    • Non Matric Recruits (NMR)  :

    Passed VI th standard.

    Sports Profiency:

    Should have participated at International/National/State level tournament.

    Age Limit & Relaxation :

    • 17 to 22 years for Direct Entry Petty Officer and 17 to 21 years for Senior Secondary Recruitment (SSR) as on date of commencement of course. Candidates should have been born between 01 Aug 1992 to 31 Jul 1997 (Both dates inclusive).
    • 17 to 21 years as on date of commencement of course. Candidates should have been born between 01 Oct 1993 to 30 Sep 1997 (Both dates inclusive) for MR and NMR.

    Note: Candidates selected will be enrolled as COOKS or STEWARDS under MR and as SANITARY HYGIENIST under NMR.

    Pay Scale & Allowances:

    The candidate will get stipend of Rs. 5,700/- Per Month and after successful completion of initial training the Pay Band (PB -1) and Pay Scale of  Rs. 5,200/- to Rs. 20,200/- plus Grade Pay of Rs. 2,000/- plus MSP @ Rs. 2,000/- plus DA.

    Training:

    The initial training for the course will be conducted at INS Chilka followed by Professional training in the allotted trade in various Naval Training Establishments. Branch / Trade will be allocated as per the requirement of Service.

    • Interested candidates may apply on the A4 size paper as per the prescribed proforma or it can be downloaded from the website www.nausena-bharti.nic.in along with the Attested copy of  Matriculation certificate ( for verification of Date of Birth), 10+2 certificate & mark sheet, Domicile Certificate, Sports Merit Certificates,  Summary of sports achivements, all certificats e to be attested by Gazetted Officer (The name of attesting officer with seal should be legible) and Two self-addressed envelops of size 22 x 10 cms with Rs 10/- stamp affixed on one envelope should reach to “THE SECRETARY, INDIAN NAVY SPORTS CONTROL BOARD, 7th Floor, Chankya Bhavan, INTEGRATED HEADQUARTERS, MoD (NAVY), NEW DELHI -110 021 on or before 30 April 2014.

    Selection Procedure

    • Short-listing criteria will be based on higher sports achivements followed with Medical Fittness Test.
    • The short listed candidates will be selected on the basis of performance in Written Test/ Trade Test/ Practical/ Skill Test/ Interviews, which might be conducted by the administration.  
    • Candidates who qualify the Physical fitness test will only be required to undergo initial recruitment medical examination at the respective recruitment centres or any other place as decided by the Coast Guard.
