Eligibility criteria
Master’s Degree from a recognised university in Hindi or English with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects, or as the medium of examination at the degree level.
OR
Master’s Degree from a recognised university in any subject other than Hindi and English with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as the medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at the degree level.
OR
Master’s Degree from a recognised university in any subject other than Hindi and English with Hindi or English as the medium of examination and English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subjects or as medium of examination at the degree level.
OR
Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised University with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as the medium of examination and the other as compulsory or elective subject plus a recognised Diploma or Certificate course in Translation from Hindi to English and vice versa or two years experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central or State Government Department including Government of India Undertakings and working knowledge of computer application or equivalent.
Age limit: 30 Years. Cut-off date for determining the age will be 23 May 2011
Age relaxation: SC/ST 5 years, OBC 3 years
Pay scale: Pay Band 2, Rs 9300 – 34800 + Grade Pay of Rs 4600.
Other allowances: The post will carry Dearness Allowance, Ration Money, Washing Allowance as admissible from time to time, Special Compensatory Allowance while posted in specified border areas, free uniform, free accommodation or HRA, Transport Allowance, Free leave pass and any other allowance as admissible in the Force from time to time under the rules/ instructions. These posts will be covered under new Restructured Defined contribution Pension scheme.
Application Fee: No application fee will be charged from SC/ST/Ex-servicemen candidate and the fee for General and OBC Candidate is Rs 150.

Medical Standards: -
(a) Eye Sight: Should be medically fit in all respects (Eye sight 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes without correction i.e. without wearing glasses).
(b) Candidates must not suffer from knock-knee, flat foot, varicose veins or squint in the eyes and should possess high colour vision. They must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of duties.
Selection Procedure
The candidate’s overall performance will be judged for final recruitment. The assessment will be made in
1. Physical Measurement
2. Written exam (200 marks)
a) General Knowledge, English, and Hindi (Objective type) (100 marks)
b) Professional Test Translation (English to Hindi and Hindi to English (100 marks)
3. Interview (20 marks)
4. Detailed Medical Examination

The duly filled application must reach on or before the prescribed last date ie 23 May 2011 for all States except for Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of Jammu & Kashmir State, Lahaul and Spiti District and Pangi Sub-Division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep for which last date is 30 May 2011.
