For students aiming for admission into IITs, here’s an overview of JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility criteria.

Who Can Appear in JEE Advanced 2025?

Only the top 2,50,000 candidates from the JEE Main BE/BTech paper (Paper I) will qualify for JEE Advanced 2025. These candidates will be selected across categories:

Category-wise Seats

  • 40.5% (Open),
  • 27% (OBC-NCL),
  • 15% (SC),
  • 10% (GEN-EWS), and
  • 7.5% (ST), with a 5% reservation in each category for PwD.

JEE Advanced Age Limit

Candidates should be born on or after October 1, 2000; however, SC, ST, and PwD students have a five-year relaxation, meaning their birthdate should fall on or after October 1, 1995.

JEE Advanced Attempts Increased: How Many Attempts after 12th exam?

Candidates who meet the requirements for JEE Advanced are allowed to take the exam a maximum of three times, but only over three consecutive years. This means that if a student first qualifies for JEE Advanced in a given year (for instance, 2025), they can attempt it in that year and the following two years (2026 and 2027). However, they cannot skip a year and then try again later. This rule allows candidates three continuous chances to secure a place at an IIT, giving them multiple opportunities while keeping the process fair and time-bound.

Educational Requirements For JEE Advanced

Candidates must have taken their Class 12 (or equivalent) exams in 2023, 2024, or 2025 with compulsory subjects in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

JEE Advanced Eligibility Marks

Only candidates ranked among the top 2,50,000 in JEE Main (Paper 1) qualify for JEE Advanced. This selection is based on categories: 40.5% for open category, 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, and 7.5% for ST, with an additional 5% horizontal reservation for PwD across all categories.
