The Maharashtra State Federation of Junior College Teachers in Mumbai is to boycott the HSC board exams scheduled in February-March 2014. The last year also, the Junior College Teachers took a decision to stay away from HSC exams, but did not since they were assured in writing by the state education minister that their demands would be fulfilled.
The demands included the implementation of the 3-tier pay scale with effect from January 1996, and not from 2000.
The other chief demands unrelated to salary were restoration of 42 days leaves from 1999, the leaves were deductedafter they undertook strike for the implementation of the recommendations of 6th Pay Commission.
Anil Deshmukh, secretary of the associationinformed that the education Minister in March assured the teachers that they will consider and discuss their demands, however, as yet, no meeting to discuss the demands raised by teachers took place, even after following up with education minister and CM, as well as all the relevant officials. They all were to no avail to work on their demands, seeing which the teachers are to halt their work from February 2014.
The Junior College will conductviva/practical and oral examinations in February.
The copy of the letter stating about the boycott has been sent to the education minister, secretary as well as CM.
