The campus of India’s first media institute, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi, is buzzing with festivities. Established in 1965 by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the institute has long been a cradle for media professionals, boasting a rich alumni network across India.
Adding another feather to its cap, IIMC has recently launched its flagship Master’s in Media Business Studies course envisioned by Professor Dr. Surbhi Dahiya. This rigorous programme nurtures entrepreneurial thinking and combines creativity with business acumen, preparing students for the media industry from day one.
The department’s first cultural fest, called ‘Media Verve,’ is spearheaded by the pioneering batch of 40 top scoring students from across India. Scheduled for 17th April 2025, the event revolves around the theme ‘Beyond the Screen: The Business of Storytelling’
The day will feature an exciting line-up of competitions, including filmmaking, ad-mad, open mic, media quiz, debate, and online photography, with a prize pool worth over ₹60,000.
The event will conclude with a panel discussion, on the theme ‘The Business of Storytelling: Building Scalable Media Ventures from India,’ moderated by Professor Dr. Surbhi Dahiya, with a panel of esteemed industry professionals like Shri Ashish S. Kulkarni, the Chairman of FICCI AVGC, Ms. Richa Anirudh, renowned podcaster and anchor, Dr. Nimish Rustogi, Registrar at IIMC, Shri Ruhail Amen, Editor at Business World, and Shri Abhishek Gulyani, MD of Zeno India. Dr. Anurag Batra, the Chairperson and Editor-in-Chief of Business World and Exchange4Media will be the keynote speaker of the event.
