Delhi will soon add another medical college to its kitty. Jamia Hamdard University decided to come up with a medical college that would be called , Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences. The college would start conducting medical courses starting this year, 2012 once it gets a green signal from the Medical Council of India.
The medical college is all ready to render affordable treatment to its patient. The three fifty bed hospital plans to help all those who cannot afford an expensive treatment. The hospital will impart both training for its students and multi-specialty treatment for patients.
Apart from the six new courses that has been launched in the medical college, which includes BSc medical imaging technology, BSc medical record and health information management, BSc optometry, BSc cardiology laboratory techniques, BSc operation theatre techniques and BSC dialysis techniques, it will have all the medical, para-medical courses except for unani courses. The entry to the college’s MBBS course would be on the basis of a written examination.
Approximately, hundred students (forty two general, forty three reserved and fifteen management quota seats) would be given admissions to the course this year, 2012. The areas of focus in terms of research, would be emphasized on oncology (cancer), diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.
Apart from this medical college, medical aspirants in Delhi will have three new medical colleges to add to their list. These colleges will be attached to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital (DDU) in Hari Nagar, Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini and an upcoming 500-bed hospital in Dwarka. The Delhi government is also planning to start a dental college, which would be attached to the GTB Hospital in Dilshad Garden.
