NIC (National Informatics Centre) officials recently announced that they will hire 800 professionals, including for 355 cyber security expert, at both entry level and lateral level. The decision has been taken due to increased cyber risks globally, which bring data protection and cyber safety to centre stage. The recruitment will be done in the next one year.
According to Neeta Verma, Director-General, NIC "There are 10,000 websites hosted by us for government/ state governments, so we need a stronger cyber security team." She said NIC will hire 800 people all over India and 355 of these will be cyber security professionals, to tackle “rising risks of cyber security”.
The centre has opened its fourth National Data Centre in Bhubaneswar after Delhi, Hyderabad and Pune. This new cloud-enabled National Data Centre will secure hosting of various applications of central and state governments and has ability to support 35,000 virtual servers. IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad inaugurated the Centre in the presence of Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan.
