PSU’s free coaching program under CSR initiatives helps poor students to crack JEE Main 2019

Every engineering aspirant has dream to crack Joint Entrance Examination, JEE to get admission in premier institutes like IITs, NITs, IIITs and CFTIs. Coaching helps students by providing right guidance and study material to fulfill their dream of getting admission into top engineering colleges of India through JEE Main and JEE Advanced. But, many poor students who live in villages don’t get such opportunity because of the lack of money and facilities. On April 29, the national testing agency (NTA) has declared the JEE Main Result 2019. Tabassum Manzoor, from Adampora in Kashmir's Kupwara district was very happy after cracking JEE Main 2019. Tabassum felt herself to be lucky when she received a call from IndianOil, asking her to join the company's 'Vidushi' programme at Noida for 11 months free coaching to prepare for the engineering entrance exam, JEE.

Tabassum is among the 252 successful aspirants, including 64 girls, from poor homes in J&K, Manipur, Assam, Odisha, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and UP tutored under CSR initiatives of cash-rich energy companies - IndianOil's 'Vidushi', Central Coalfields Ltd's 'CCL Ke Lal and Ladli', GAIL's 'Utkarsh Super 100' and ONGC's 'Super 30'.

"We are happy that 82% of the girl students who underwent coaching at the two IndianOil Vidushi Centres have cleared the JEE Mains," said Mr. Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra, Director HR, IndianOil. 28 out of 30 girls from the Bhubaneswar centre and 18 out of 26 girls from the Noida centre achieved this feat, he added.

IndianOil Vidushi Super30 was launched in 2018 in association with the Centre for Social Responsibility and Leadership (CSRL), an educational NGO, to provide free coaching (after Class XII) to young girl aspirants from different States to succeed in Central and State engineering entrance examinations. Thirty girls each are selected for Bhubaneswar and Noida centres on merit-cum-means basis through a written test and personal interview from a participation of approximately 3,000 girls. IndianOil bears the complete cost of 11-months of intensive coaching, study material, food and accommodation for the girl students, besides various consumables. Additionally, each student is provided with health insurance of Rs. 1 lakh for one year to cover any exigencies.
