Railway Recruitment Cell, Eastern Railways (RRC-ER), invited applications, in the prescribed format, for filling up 2830 posts in various disciplines / categories in Pay Band - I of Rs. 5200 - 20200 with Grade Pay of Rs. 1800 with the Eastern Railways and with the CLW. Note: Candidates for Post on Sl. No. 1 must meet the standard for Vision and colour vision. They should have their vision checked by a competent eye specialist and obtain certificate, an attested xerox copy of which should be attached with the application form.

Eligibility Criterion:

Educational Qualifications: 10th Pass or ITI or equivalent.

NOTE: Female candidates are eligible to apply. They may however, note that the nature of duties is arduous and may involve outdoor and night working.

Age Limit: (reckoned as on 1 January 2014)

Minimum: 18 years

Maximum: 33 years.

Upper age limit is relax-able by 5 years for SC / ST category candidates and by 3 years for OBC category candidates.

For Widows and Divorced Women who have not remarried, the Upper age limit will be relaxed up to 35 years (for General category), 38 years (for OBC category) and 40 years (for SC / ST category)  candidates.

Selection Procedure: Selection will be done on the basis of candidates’ performance in written examination, Physical Efficiency Test (PET) followed by verification of original documents on the same venue and date.

Successful candidates, in order of merit, will be called for Medical examination. Appointment will be subject to candidate being found suitable after antecedent verification and medical fitness

Selected candidates would be required to undergo training, with stipend for a specific period. They are likely to be posted anywhere on the concerned Zonal Railway after successful completion of training. All male candidates are liable for active Territorial Army Service in Railway Units or other such units.

NOTE: PET will be of qualifying nature and only those candidates who qualify in the written test will be called for the PET.

Qualifying standards for PET:

For Males: Run a distance of 1000 meters in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance.

For Females: Run a distance of 400 meters in 3 minutes and 10 seconds in one chance.

Date and venue of written examination, Physical Efficiency Test and document verification will be intimated to eligible candidates by post.

NOTE: Candidates should apply to one zonal Railway as the Written Examination for all the Railways will be held on the same day simultaneously. Similarly PET will also be held during the same period simultaneously by all the Railways.

Travel Allowance: SC / ST candidates will be issued second class journey Railway Pass for appearing in the written examination / physical efficiency test etc.

Syllabus: The written examination will be of Class 10 standard. The question paper will be in Hindi, English, Urdu and Bengali and have multiple choice objective type questions on General Knowledge / Awareness, Mathematics and Reasoning etc.

Note: Admission to the examination centre is provisional as the applications are fully scrutinized later.

Examination Fees: Non-refundable examination fees of Rs. 100 have to be paid in the form of crossed Demand Draft / Pay Order / Indian Postal Order (DD / PO / IPO) drawn in favour of “Senior Personnel Officer (Recruitment),  Railway Recruitment Cell, Eastern Railway” payable at “Kolkata”.

Candidates should mention their Name and Address at the space provided on the DD/ PO / IPO and the details of examination fee should be written in the Application form.

Candidates belonging to SC / ST, PWD (PH), Female, Minority Community, Ex-servicemen and Economically Backward Classes / Sections are exempted from payment of Examination fees.

How to Apply: Interested eligible candidates should send their duly filled in application form, along with attested copies of required certificates / testimonials and fee DD / PO / IPO in original by Ordinary post to “The Senior Personnel Officer (Recruitment), Railway Recruitment Cell, Eastern Railway, 56, C. R. Avenue, RITES Building, 1st Floor, Kolkata – 700 012” or dropped in the Application Box kept in ‘The Office of Railway Recruitment Cell, Eastern Railway, 56 C.R.Avenue RITES Building, 1st Floor, Kolkata – 700 012’, up to 1700 hours of the prescribed last date.

On the envelope containing the application, candidates should clearly super-scribe “Application for Recruitment in Pay Band - I Rs. 5200 - 20200with Grade Pay Rs.1800 Eastern Railway” along with ‘The Community’ as applicable (i.e.

SC/ST/OBC/UR/PWD(PH)/ESM).

The DD / PO/ IPO in original should be enclosed on the top of the application.

A candidate should submit only one application form.

Each envelope should contain one application only.

Note: Candidates must keep a photocopy of the AF for reference.
