Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), a Maharatna Company of Government of India is India's largest steel producer with an annual turnover of around Rs. 50,348 crore (FY11-12). It operates and owns 5 integrated steel plants at Rourkela, Bhilai, Durgapur, Bokaro and Burnpur and 3 special steel plants at Salem, Durgapur and Bhadravati.
Raw Materials Division (RMD), the controlling unit of captive SAIL, invited applications for recruitment of 85 Operator-cum-Technician Trainees in its four mines. Interested candidates can apply online till 16 January 2013.

Emoluments: Consolidated pay of Rs.8250 per month for the 1st year of Training and of Rs.9350 per month for the 2nd year of Training.
On successful completion of training, candidates, whose services will be regularized, will be paid in S-3 grade in the Pay Scale of Rs.9160-3%-13150 in addition to Basic Pay and Industrial DA. They will also be entitled for Contributory Provident Fund, Gratuity, free medical treatment for self and dependant family members, accommodation as per entitlement, reimbursement of Local Traveling Expenses, LTC/LTA, Leave Encashment, Allowances etc. as admissible under rules of the Company.

Maximum: 28 years
Maximum age relax able by 3 years for OBC candidates and by 5 years for SC / ST candidates.
Educational Qualification (as on 30-06-2012) Three years full time Diploma in Engineering in Mechanical / Electrical / Civil / Electronics & Instrumentation / Chemical / Mining with Mines Survey Certificate of Competency from DGMS from an Institute recognized by State Government /Central Government
Application / Processing Fee
Application fee of Rs.250 (for candidates belonging to General /OBC category) / Rs.50 (for candidates belonging to SC/ST category) along with Rs.20 as Bank Charges should be deposited in cash with any State Bank of India branch (having Core Banking facilities) in a specially opened Account (A/C No.32469839252) at SBI, CAG Branch, Kolkata, on behalf of SAIL/RMD, till 16 January 2013.
Candidates have to deposit the fee through a fee payment “challan” available on the Application Registration Portal.
On receipt of the money, the bank will issue a unique Journal Number and the Branch Code of the Bank. The Journal Number and the Branch Code are to be filled up in the online registration form. Candidates should retain a copy of the bank challan with them for future use.
Selection Procedure: Eligible candidates will be required to appear for a Written Test. Those short listed on the basis of their performance in the Written Test will be called for the Interview. Candidates shortlisted for interview will be required to produce original documents for verification.
Date, Time & Place of the Written Test and Interview will be intimated to eligible / shortlisted candidates through e-mail / SAIL website.
Selection / joining of finally selected candidate will be subject to medical fitness as per rules of the company.
All information regarding Test Schedule / Admit Card / Interview Call Letters etc will be provided through email / SMS or it will be uploaded on SAIL website. Candidates should download / print their Admit Card / Interview Call Letter once it is made available. Candidates will be allowed to appear in the Written Test / Interview only if they possess valid Admit Card / Interview Call Letter.
Test Centres: The tentative list of cities where written test shall be conducted is:

2. Bhubaneswar
3. Ranchi
4. Jamshedpur
5. Kolkata
Candidates may indicate their choice of cities from among these for written test as per their preference. However, SAIL reserves the right to cancel or add any centre depending on the response in that area /centre and allocate appropriate centre to the candidate.
Travel Allowance: Outstation candidates belonging to SC/ST categories, attending the interview, will be reimbursed 2nd Class; single to and fro Railway fare / Bus fare from the declared place of correspondence to the place of interview by the shortest route on production of original ticket(s), provided the distance covered by rail or road is more than 30 kilometers each way.
How to Apply: Interested eligible candidates can apply online through SAIL’s website till 16 January 2013. On successful submission of the online application, a Registration Slip with a unique registration number will be generated by the system. Candidates are required to download this system generated Registration Slip and retain a copy of the same for future reference.
Candidates should have a valid e-mail ID and Mobile No., which should remain valid for at least two years as all correspondence with candidates shall be done through e-mail only.
A candidate can apply for the post of Operator-cum-Technician (Trainee) for one mine only.
