Whether you are aspiring to be an IAS officer or a clerk, a single screeing test may decide your fate, as per the new proposal by the SSC to the government
In an effort to streamline recruitment, the SSC (Staff Selection Commission) has proposed a common screening test. The scores of the single screening test would determine if the aspirant should apply for a clerks' job, a bank officers' or to become an IAS officers. The scores could be utilized for screening candidates by all government departments, PSUs, banks and other bodies
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC), the largest recruitment agency in the country, has proposed an introduction of a GRE style walk-in screening test. The proposal also would allow candidates to appear as many times as they would like with the scores being valid for two years.
.The UPSC has the mandate to select candidates for high profile gazetted posts while the SSC recruits for the lower division jobs such as clerks, sub-inspectors etc. If such a screening test is introduced, the UPSC may not need to conduct the Civil Services Preliminary Screening Test.
The benefits of the proposal for students is that it would make it easier for them since they would only have to sit for one screening exam for a many government jobs.
