This Year IIT Kharagpur to See Tumbling Placement Scenario, Yet Hopes Are High

    Placement at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) is around the corner, to be kicked off in early December 2013, and the most talked-about topic is the absence of Facebook and Twitter in this year's placements. Yet the hopes are high for recruiters’ offers. IIT - Kharagpur administration is yet acting confident in such unpleasing situation as many other majors are arriving.

    Twitter never came to IIT- Kharagpur for recruitment hence hopes with Facebook were high, also because, in the previous year, Facebook picked 4 students from IIT- Kharagpur.

    Other firms have confirmed their participation in the Placement event, soon to be held in IIT- Kharagpur, however chances of students getting selected as same as last year, at the end of the placement process are bleak. The size of finally selected students for jobs might be lower in size than a year ago, which were 131 students in total who received job offers.
     
    Even though Facebook is not participating this time, the campus is repenting more for the absence of firm Rio Tinto, an Australia’s mining major.

    The company placement cell informs that It has wind-up its contract here. Another major company Mitsubishi probably be gone missing.

    The campus hold the economic slowdown responsible for missing companies this year  Faculty member, Sudhir Barai, informed there is however no need to panic as many other new major companies are to show up as Barclays and Deutsche, which are expected to pick heavily from the IIT- Kharagpur’s financial engineering department.

    Mr.Barai told about arriving of Microsoft, Google, Slumberger, Cairns, Amazon, Linkedin, Yahoo, Adobe, Texas Instruments, Cisco, Samsung etc for placements adding that Placemetn will commence from 1 Dec, 2013 and chances of most foreign companies to take part are high on the first 2 days.
