Answer: Uses of Baking soda are as follows: (any two)
- It is used as an antacid to decrease the acidity of stomach and treat indigestion.
- It is used as a water softener in the process of washing.
- It is used in the manufacture of fire extinguishers
2. Write the required materials, chemicals for "esterification reaction" activity.
Answer: Apparatus and chemicals required for esterification reaction are: 1ml of ethanol, 1 ml of glacial acetic acid, conc. sulphuric acid, beaker, bunsen burner and a test tube.
3.Guess and write, what changes may happen to the focal length and position of optic centre of a Convex lens, if it is broken into two pieces?
Answer: If the lens is cut parallel to the principal axis, then the focal length remains the same and if the lens is cut perpendicular to the principal axis, then the focal length of each part becomes twice the original.

(iii) P (Phosphorus) is the 15th Group element .
(iv) Be (Beryllium) and Mg (Magnesium) are of the same period, which is the second period.
