The number of Posts given in the IAS Notification is 1079. It means that around 1079*2=2158 persons will be shortlisted for the UPSC Civil Services (IAS) Interview 2016. From this we can conclude that around 1079*12=12948 because it is mentioned in the UPSC Notification that “the number of candidates to be admitted to the Main Examination will be about twelve to thirteen times the total approximate number of vacancies to be filled in the year through this examination”.
Now when we analyse the past year trends of Civil Services Exam Application Form Filling numbers, around eleven to twelve Lakhs form will be filled this year. As far as the number of candidates is expected to take exam, it will not increase drastically and around 5 Lakhs of candidates will go the Civil Services Prelims Exam 2016.
So we can construe that Civil Services Exam will be a fight to come into the top 13000 candidates from among the mob of 5 lakhs of candidates . It is pretty difficult and easy at the same time. The candidates need to do things differently not do different things. So the candidates should prepare to come out of the herd of Eleven to Twelve lakh candidates and give Civil Services (IAS) Main Exam 2016.
Some experts predict the Cutoff for the IAS Prelims and IAS Main Exam but at this moment we cannot prediction the Cutoff for the IAS Prelims Exam because it depends on various factors and the most important of them all is the level of dificulty of the IAS Prelims Exam Question Paper. So we can not misguide the candidates and can only motivate them to prepare for the IAS Exam in a better way so that they can do well in IAS Exam.
