State cadre has been allocated to the candidates selected in the IAs Exam 2014. Most of the toppers did not get their home cadre. Some of the luckiest candidates got their home cadre. UPSC IAS Topper Ira Singhal got the AGMUT cadre. AGMUT means Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory Cadre which is controlled by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. Delhi-Andaman and Nicobar Island Civil Service (DANICS)/ Delhi-Andaman and Nicobar Island Police Service (DANIPS) are also controlled by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Second rank Holder Renu Raj got her home state that is Kerala.

The method of state cadre allocation is little bit complex. Each State has the number of vacancies each year. There is a roster system which takes the candidates for the state as per the insider and outsider vacancies available in the state. After it, the reservation also works here in a manner that each state has number of vacancies in each of the Unreserved, OBC, SC and ST categories. The selected candidates then matched as per the availability of the post for the Insiders and outsiders and also satisfying the category criteria.
