It includes the IAS Prelims Exam, IAS Main Exam, and the final cutoff for the selection in IAS Exam. Here we will be analysing the IAS Exam previous year cut off marks for each category so that the IAS aspirants can ascertain the level of competition and magnitude of effort for selection in India’s Premiere Exam – Civil Services (IAS) Exam
In a first – UPSC has given the details about the category wise vacancies and the recommendations done against it. In the previous years, only cutoff marks were given for each category for IAS Prelims Exam, IAS Main Exam and the Final Cut off for the Civil Services Exam. This year, UPSC has established a new benchmark of transparency as it has given all the details related to the number of vacanices under each category and the selection done for each category against the number of vacancies notified. Only for the General Cateory the selections doen were less than the vacancies notified.
Vacancies Selection
General Category 414 333
There were only 333 selection done against the 414 notified vacancies for the General Category candidates. No reasoning was given by the UPSC for this. For rest of all the categories, the number of selections done were equal to the number of notified vacancies.
# Subject to 10% marks in each of the seven competitive papers i.e. Essay, GS-I, GS-II, GS-III, GS-IV, Optional-I and Optional-II.

IAS Prelims Exam Cutoff Analysis
Here we will be analysing the IAS Prelims Exam previous year cut off marks for all the categories. The IAS Prelims Exam previous year cut off marks are given out of 200 marks because the IAS Prelims Exam General Studies Paper II - Aptitude paper is qualifying only and only 33% marks needs to be scored from it in order to qualify. But before the year 2015 it was counted for the IAS Prelims Merit List. The important things to remind here is that the IAS Prelims Marks is not counted in the Final Merit List of Civil Services Exam.

UPSC IAS Main Exam Previous Year Cut Off Marks
The IAS Main(written) Exam is conducted in the month of September- October each year and the marks obtained in the IAS Main Exam is counted for the Final Merit list of the UPSC IAS Exam. The Maximum marks in the IAS Main (written) Exam is 1750 and the cut off marks and the percentage given here is also from the 1750 Marks.

UPSC IAS Final Selection Cut Off Marks
The IAS aspirants get the final marks after appearing in the Personlaity Test which is popularly called as the IAS Interview by the IAS aspirants. The difference of marks in the IAS Main(written) and Final Cut off is also shown so that the candidates can estimate that scoring those marks in the IAS Interview is very difficult and hence they have to score 50 to 100 more marks from the IAS Main(written) Exam so that they can get a service in the final merit list.
