Saumya Pandey, a gold medallist from the Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), Allahabad, secured 4th Rank in UPSC Civil Services Exam 2016. She is the only child of Dr Sadhana Pandey, a gynaecologist by profession and Dr Ravi Pandey, owner of a computer institute in the Allahabad city. Saumya was academically well throughout her school education and she was the district topper in Class 10 and Class 12 with 98% and 97.8% marks respectively from the same Army School in Allahabad.

She had started preparation for IAS Exam just one year ago from the IAS Prelims Exam during her graduate degree in Electrical Engineering from MNNIT. Specifically, she had started preparation for IAS Prelims Exam just 2 months before the Exam. She focused more on solving various mock test papers which help her a lot in gaining momentum in her preparation.
Here, in this video, she has shared her complete and effective strategy for IAS Prelims Exam. She has also suggested the future IAS aspirants be more focused towards the serious and time-saving strategy. An IAS aspirant should not go for the things which are irrelevant for the IAS Exam, she suggests.

Apart from the academics, she is a trained classical Kathak dancer from the Prayag Sangeet Samiti and a skilled basketball player.
