The Union Public Service Commission will conduct Indian Forest Service Examination from 14 July 2012 for the purpose of filling vacancies in the Indian Forest Service (IFS). The Examination will be held in 42 centres across India.

Eligibility Criteria for Indian Forest Service Examination 2012
Educational Qualification: The candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, physics, Statistics and Zoology OR a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or possesses an equivalent qualification.
Age Limit (as on 1 August 2012): Minimum 21 years; Maximum 30 years
Selection procedure for Indian Forest Service Examination 2012: The competitive examination for the Indian Forest Service comprises of the following.
(A) The Written Examination consisting of the following papers:-
| Paper I | General English | 300 marks |
| Paper II | General Knowledge | 300 marks |
| Paper III | Any two subjects to be selected from the list of optional Subjects mentioned in the notification. Each subject will have two papers. | 200 marks |
(B) Interview for Personality Test of such candidates as may be called by the Commission (Maximum marks: 300 marks)

How to Apply for Indian Forest Service Examination 2012: Candidates are required to apply online only using the link http://www.upsconline.nic.in
Application Fee: Candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs 100 either by remitting the money in any Branch of SBI/ State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/ State Bank of Hyderabad/ State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala/ State Bank of Travancore by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI or by using Visa/ Master Credit/ Debit Card.
Female/ SC/ ST/ PH candidates are exempted from payment of Fee.
