UPSC 2020: A plea has been filed in the Supreme Court to postpone UPSC CSE Prelims 2020 (Currently scheduled for 4th October). The Supreme Court will hear the matter on 28th September 2020. On Thursday, the Supreme Court issued a notice to Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and Centre on a petition filed by UPSC aspirants seeking postponement of UPSC Prelims 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic & floods in the country.

According to a PTI report, the bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and A M Khanwilkar will hear the matter on September 28. Through the plea, aspirants demanded that the exam should be postponed for two to three months due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases and floods in the country.

20 aspirants have filed the plea in the Supreme Court to postpone UPSC CSE Prelims 2020, which is currently scheduled for October 4. According to the plea, if the exam will be conducted across India at an unsafe time like this, then it will be like putting lives of lakhs of young spirant at risk and danger of death, many aspirants are facing “unimaginable hardship” or “unsafe health conditions”. The civil service exam is a recruitment exam & there would not be any delay or waste of any academic progress, the pleas further added. The plea also pointed out the fact that the commission has not increased the number of Examination Centres and due to this reason many candidates from rural areas have to travel 300-400 km to reach the examination centres which will increase the probability that these aspirants might be affected while using public transport.
