UPSC to Conduct Civil Services Prelims Exam on 18 June, Important Points to Check

The UPSC has recently released the e-admit cards and important instructions for the prelims of Civil Services Examination 2017. The exam is scheduled to be held on 18 June 2017. UPSC will fill 980 posts of IAS, IPS, IFS and other Group A and Group B Officers through this exam.

The UPSC Civil Service Examination is considered the most respected exam of India. Every year lakhs of applicants try but only a handful are selected for the posts of IAS, IPS, IFS and other Group A and Group B services. The competition each year is fierce and unforgiving. The examination is conducted in three stages and it spans over a year for the recruitment process to be completed.

This year similar to the past examinations, UPSC Civil Service will be conducted in three stages i.e. Prelims, Mains and Interviews. There will be a merit list drawn on the basis of these stages. It is to be noted that the prelims exam is only a qualifying exam and its marks are not counted for the merit list but it is essential for applicants to clear this exam to move forward in the recruitment scheme. It is therefore important to understand the dynamics of this exam to crack it as with focus and dedication anything can be achieved.

UPSC has released certain guidelines which would guide candidates to appear for the prelims this year successfully.The candidates must note that they will not be allowed to appear for the examination without the e-admit card issued by UPSC. If you appear at the Centre other than the one allotted to you, you will be disqualified from the examination.

It is mandatory for the desirous candidates to enter the examination hall 20 minutes before the commencement of the examination. The candidates who do not have a clear photograph must bring a valid photo identity proof along documents like Aadhar Card, Driving license, Passport, Voter ID card in original can be shown along with 2 photographs to appear for the examination with an undertaking.

It must also be noted that answers marked other than a black ball point pen will not be evaluated. The candidates are also advised in their own interest to not carry any printed material, chits, cell phones or any other form of article which can directly or indirectly be linked to cheating.

If found in possession of any, the candidate can be booked under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code for cheating. Therefore the candidates should make sure that they abide by all the rules and regulations laid down by the Commission.
