West Bengal College Service Commission was established in 1979 for the recruitment of teaching professionals in various colleges/ institutes of West Bengal. The two primary functions of the commission is to prepare merit panels and recommend candidates for appointment to the post of Lecturer in different subjects/disciplines as required by the affiliated colleges against sanctioned posts. The commission invites applications from eligible candidates for recruitment of Assistant Professors and Librarian in different Government-aided Colleges (both General degree Colleges and Teachers’ Training Colleges) in West Bengal.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Applicants must have Minimum 55% marks or an equivalent grade or Grade Point at PG Degree level in the same or a relevant subject from a recognized University/Institute and at least three year graduation degree, preferably with Honours in the same or a relevant subject, also from a recognized University/Institute.
- Relaxation of Marks: 50% for SC/ST/ PH/VH/ PHD Degree holder who have obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19 September, 1991
- Applicants must have passed the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET)/ CSIR NET or SET/ SLET conducted in the state of West Bengal. Although, the candidates who have been awarded PhD Degree in the same or in a relevant/ allied subject (for which he/she is an applicant) in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of PhD Degree) Regulations, 2009 are exempted from appearing in the Eligibility Test
- Adept in Bengali and English language (oral and written). For posting in Colleges situated in the hill areas in the district of Darjeeling (Darjeeling Sadar, Kalimpong and Kurseong), good knowledge of Nepali and English language (oral and written) is required

Application Fee: Candidates belonging to General Category will have to pay Rs 1050 (including Rs 50 for Bank Charges) whereas the fee for SC/ST/PH/VH/OBC candidates is Rs 550 (including Rs 50 for Bank Charges).
Selection Process: Applicants will be selected on the basis of their performance in an interview conducted by the commission.
