Western Railways issued notification for recruitment to 2 posts of Category-1 erstwhile Group ‘D’ (Khalasi, Porter, Tracksman, etc) under scouts & guides quota for its BRC Division. Interested scouts & guides candidates should send their application, in the prescribed format, till 13 March 2013.

Name of post: Category -I Erstwhile Group ‘D’ (Khalasi, Porter, Trackman etc.)
Age Limit (as on 1 July 2013): between 18 years and 33 years.
(Upper age limit relax able by 3 years for OBC candidates and by 5 years for SC / ST candidates.)
Educational Qualification: SSC or equivalent with necessary Scouting/ Guiding Qualification.
Scouts and Guides Qualifications:
I. A President’s Scout / Guide / Rover / Ranger (OR) Himalayan Wood Wadge Holder (OR) A Pre HWB Trained Scout leader / Advanced Trained Guide / Leader / Captain.
II. Should have been an active member of a Scouts Organization for at least 3 years in recent past & continue to be active.
III. Should have attended at least one event at National level and one or two events at State level (OR) should have a good record of participation in Scouts / Guides activities at Unit / District level.
Pay Scale: Rs.5200–20200 + GP Rs.1800
Application Fee: Non-refundable application fee of Rs.40 has to be paid through Demand Draft (DD) / Indian Postal Order (IPO) drawn in favour of ‘Divisional Cashier Western Railway, Vadodara Division’ payable at ‘Vadodara’.
SC / ST, Ex-SM, PWD, Female, Minority [Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists and Zoroastrians (Parsis)] candidates, and candidates belonging to economically Backward Classes (whose family income is less than Rs. 50000 per annum) are exempted for payment of examination fees.
Selection Procedure: The recruitment procedure consists of Written Test followed by Interview. Eligible candidates will be called for written test and those who qualify in the test will be called for viva-voce. Appointment of selected candidates will be subject to their clearing the prescribed Medical Test.
Written Test: The 50 mark written test will have 50 Objective type questions related to Scouts and Guides organization and its activities.
Assessment tally:
Written Test: 50 marks
Scouts / Guides Qualifications over and above the minimum prescribed as eligibility condition: 35 marks
Personality Test / Interview:15 marks
Total:100 marks
Verification of all testimonials and certificates will be mandatory condition for appointment.
Candidates will have to undergo prescribed training course as applicable for the post as per existing instructions.
The list of candidates fulfilling eligibility criteria will be uploaded on Division website.The mode of selection, date, venue and time will be intimated to the eligible candidate through post.
Choice of Language: Candidates must choose any one of the following languages -- Hindi, English and Gujarati (regional language to be indicated) for question paper.
