The 64th British Academy Film Awards commonly known as the BAFTAs, were held on 13 February 2011 to acknowledge and honour the best national and foreign films of 2010. The King's Speech that earned the most nominations with fourteen swept the 64th BAFTA. King’s Speech directed by Tom Hooper won seven awards, including Best Film, Outstanding British Film and Best Actor for Colin Firth.The King's Speech revolves around the story of King George VI of Britain, his reluctant ascent to the throne and the speech therapist who helped the unsure monarch become worthy of it. Natalie Portman won the Best Actress award for Black Swan and David Fincher was named Best Director for The Social Network. Sir Christopher Lee was honoured with the Academy Fellowship at the 63rd BAFTA.

Best Short Animation- Michael Please for The Eagleman Stag

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) founded in 1947 is a charity in the United Kingdom that hosts annual awards shows for excellence in film, television, television craft, video games and forms of animation. In 1958, the Academy merged with the Guild of Television Producers and Directors to form the Society of Film and Television, which eventually became the British Academy of Film and Television Arts in 1976. BAFTA's annual film awards ceremony is known as the British Academy Film Awards honours the best work of any nationality seen on British cinema screens during the preceding year. Since 2008 the ceremony has been held at the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden having taken place.
