Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has increased the loan limit under the Mudra Scheme to ₹ 20 lakh during the Union Budget 2024, earlier this limit was ₹ 10 lakh. This facility is for those who have previously availed and successfully repaid loans taken under the Tarun category. It is noteworthy that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget in Parliament on July 23.  

2. (a) Federal Bank

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the appointment of Krishnan Venkat Subramanian as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Federal Bank. Subramanian's three-year term will begin from September 23, 2024. Currently Shyam Srinivasan is the MD and CEO of the bank.  

3. (c) WIPO

NITI Aayog and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) have recently signed an agreement under the Global South Innovation Programme. Under its programme, joint programmes will be run towards innovation, entrepreneurship and intellectual property (IP) for the countries of the global South.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has allocated Rs 3,442 crore to promote sports in the country in the Union Budget 2024-25. Out of which Rs 900 crore has been kept for the 'Khelo India' initiative. Let us tell you that this was the first budget of the third term of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has been allocated a record Rs 6.22 lakh crore in the regular Union Budget for the financial year 2024-25, the highest allocation among all ministries. The total allocation is 18.43% higher than the previous financial year, with 27.66% earmarked for capital expenditure.
