Union External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar held productive talks with the Foreign Affairs Minister of Israel, Yair Lapid on October 18, 2021. Both the foreign ministers agreed on mutual recognition of the vaccination certificates.
EAM S Jaishankar also thanked Israel for joining the International Solar Alliance as its newest member. The two Foreign Ministers also decided to resume negotiations on FTA (Free Trade Agreements) between the two countries as early as November 2021 with the hope that the agreement will be ready for signing by mid-2022.

Background
India under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi had enjoyed an unprecedented relationship with former Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.
Both the nations had elevated their bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership during PM Modi's historic visit to Israel in July 2017. The relationship between the two countries has since then focused on collaboration in innovation and research, including boosting the ‘Make in India’ initiative of the Modi government.
