Himachal Pradesh government released Sixth Economic Census report
Growth rate in number of establishments has been recorded nearly 60 percent more in comparison to fifth census held in 2005.
Sixth Economic Census of Himachal Pradesh was released on 27 March 2016 by Pradeep Chauhan, the Economic Advisor of Himachal Government.
Despite the difficult geographical conditions, Himachal Pradesh became the first state in the country to complete this process of economic census.
Highlights of the census
• Growth rate in number of establishments has been recorded nearly 60 percent more in comparison to fifth census held in 2005.
• The unemployed youth of the state are adopting retail trade, construction, tourism and transport related activities for employment.
• The numbers of female workers have been increased almost three times during past seven years and more than 49 thousand units are being run by female, out of four lakh twelve thousand units.
• The handicraft and handloom units were included first time in the census and total 12172 such units were recorded.
The census was conducted in all the 12 districts of the state. More than 12 thousand trained employees completed this economic census operation.
