Hockey India inducted Hockey Village India as an academy member
Hockey India inducted Hockey Village India as an Academy Member to reach out to underprivileged children.
Hockey India (HI) on 19 September 2014 inducted Hockey Village India (HVI) as an Academy Member to reach out to underprivileged children who are keen to make a career in the sport.
At present, Hockey India has 26 permanent Members, 23 associate Members, one Member through State Olympic Associations, eight Academy Members and one Hoc-Key Member.
Hockey India has always strived to reach the underprivileged children those who in spite of having the talent cannot reach the big platform. Now the HVI on board will strengthen work towards reaching out and identifying the talent.
About Hockey India
Hokey India is the governing body of field hockey in India. The objectives of HI are to promote and encourage the game of hockey, organize and control the game of hockey in India. It will affiliate with and adhere to and abide by the statues, Bye laws, rules and regulations and jurisdiction of International Hockey Federation (FIH), Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) and Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
About Hockey Village India
• The Hockey Village India was established by Andrea Thumshirn of Germany at Garh Himmat Singh, District Dausa in Rajasthan in 2010.
• HVI works towards the better future of underprivileged children in rural India in terms of sports and education. HVI creates the awareness of hockey in the surrounding areas and started training boys and girls who are Under-14 and U-16 tournaments.
• In 2013, HVI opened its own school to provide proper education and sporting facilities to budding players. Some German hockey players are also volunteering to train young kids.
• HVI adopted Bhusawal Railway Boys (Maharashtra) and two more schools in South Goa in January 2014.
