Mahakumbh 2025: The Mela administration has made a number of significant adjustments to the Kumbh Mela zone's preparations in an apparent attempt to prevent a "stampede-like" scenario from happening again in the Maha Kumbh.
The three other neighboring sacred towns of Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Chitrakoot, which were all seeing an increase in the number of pilgrims, also had authorities on high alert. According to the government, all cars other than ambulances are not permitted to enter the Mela area, which has been designated as a "no vehicle" zone. Besides, all VVIP permits have also been revoked.
Mahakumbh 2025: One-Way Traffic System Implemented
A one-way traffic system has been introduced in the Mela area with separate entry and exit routes. Officials have also restricted vehicle entry into Prayagraj by stopping them at city borders.
Special Arrangements Until Basant Panchami
To help manage the large crowd, the state government has assigned five senior officials, all previously stationed in Prayagraj, to assist the Mela administration.
These crowd control measures will remain in place until February 3rd, when the third major holy bath (snan) will take place on Basant Panchami.
