Ratan Tata's passing has left a significant void in the role of Chairman of Tata Trusts. As per the media sources the Tata group has appointed Noel Tata as the new chairperson of Tata Trusts. The trust owns 66% of Tata Sons, a major percentage of the share. The CNBC TV18 channel reported that this decision was taken unanimously in a meeting held on October 11.
With the group companies facing various challenges, the next person to hold the Chairman position at Tata Trusts will play a key role in shaping the future of Tata Sons and guiding the company's growth, especially after the loss of its emeritus Chairperson, Ratan Tata.

Ratan Tata became the chairman of the Tata Group in 1991, leading the company founded by his great-grandfather. One of his major achievements during his leadership was launching Tata Teleservices in 1996.

Noel Tata, Ratan Tata's half-brother, has long been seen as a strong contender to continue the Tata legacy due to his close family ties and involvement in several Tata Group companies. His recent appointment as the chairperson of Tata Trusts confirms his role as the likely successor.
Currently serving as chairman of Trent, Voltas, Tata Investment Corporation, and Tata International, Noel Tata is the son of Naval and Simone Tata. Noel holds the position of Vice Chairman at Titan and Tata Steel. Given his membership on the Sir Ratan Tata Trust board, he has an advantage in leading Tata Trusts, which oversees Tata Sons.
Tata Group's Leadership
To avoid having the same person lead both Tata Sons and Tata Trusts, Tata divided up the chairmanship of the two organizations. No Single individual was appointed in both positions at the same time in the leadership of Ratan Tata.
N Chandrasekaran, 61, the chairman of Tata Sons, has overseen the company well since Cyrus Mistry left. However, he is not a member of the Tata Trusts board. In addition to Chandrasekaran, other members of the Tata Sons board of directors include Venu Srinivasan of the TVS group, Ajay Piramal, Ralf Speth, CEO of JLR, Harish Manwani, a former global COO of Unilever, and group CFO Saurabh Agarwal.
