Sonam Kapoor's fashion label Rheson wins PETA Award 2017
Her brand label Rheson was awarded for a line of bags made exclusively of vegan materials.
Fashion label Rheson, owned by actress Sonam Kapoor and her producer-sister Rhea Kapoor, on 22 June 2017 won the Compassionate Business Award 2017 from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India for a line of bags made exclusively of vegan materials.
As per PETA, the demand for cruelty-free fashion is on the rise and at such point of time, companies like Rheson are setting trends by providing optimum quality fashion wear and accessories made of vegan materials, harming no animals.
Sonam was crowned as PETA's Hottest Vegetarian Celebrity of 2016.
This is not the first time that Sonam Kapoor stood for animals. In 2015, she wrote a letter to the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, pushing it to not to revoke the ban on classroom dissection for university life-science and zoology students.
In 2011, she donated kind kites to children to help prevent injuries from manja. In March 2010, she sent a letter on behalf of PETA to the then Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil, urging him to ban glass-coated manja across the state after Mumbai police banned it within the city.
