Victory Day was celebrated in Bangladesh on 16 December 2014. The day observes liberation of Bangladesh from the Pakistan forces in 1971 War of Liberation in which about three million people were killed.
On this day, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid their homage to the 1971 Liberation War martyrs at the National Memorial in Bangladesh.
The day was celebrated with 31-gun salute at National Parade Ground in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Bangladesh. Many leaders of Bangladesh and diplomats of many countries also paid their homage to the martyrs.
About Victory Day
Victory Day observed on 16 December annually commemorates the surrender of Pakistan forces to allied Indian and Bangladeshi forces in the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. In Bangladesh this day is a national holiday and is known as Bijoy Dibosh in Bangladesh.
