Virender Sehwag appointed as mentor for Kings XI Punjab for IPL season 9

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag was appointed as mentor of the Kings XI Punjab team for season 9 of Indian Premier League (IPL) on 1 February 2016.

In his new role, Sehwag will work along with head coach Sanjay Bangar and would be responsible for guiding and motivating the squad.

About Virender Sehwag

He made his IPL debut with Delhi Daredevils was with the franchise till 2013 before being bought by KXIP in the 2014 Auction.

He was playing in Kings XI Punjab team for the last two seasons and now he would be mentor the team.

He was well known for his destructive batting approach and was a handy off-spinner who could check the flow of runs and take wickets.

He holds number of records including the highest score made by an Indian in Test cricket by making 319 runs against South Africa at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

It was also the fastest triple century in the history of international cricket; he reached 300 off only 278 balls.

He is one of only two players in the world to score a double hundred in ODI and a triple hundred in Test Cricket, the other being Chris Gayle.
